Ampere has teamed up with four major battery suppliers to create a supply chain for LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) systems for Renault’s electric vehicles.
With its partner LG Energy Solution, Ampere is launching Cell-to-Pack technology (CTP) using pouch-type batteries for the first time. Using LFP can reduce the cost of batteries in its vehicles by 20% from beginning of 2026.
It is also working with Chinese supplier CATL to set up an integrated value chain on the European continent for LFP battery cells from Hungary for several models of Renault and Alpine brands until 2030.

The Cell-to-Pack technology with LG improves the range of vehicles by integrating more cells, and therefore more on-board energy, in a given space and also helps reduce battery costs, even though LFP cells have lower energy density than mainstream NMC lithium ion cells.
AESC Envision, based in the Ampere ElectriCity hub in Douai, France, will supply NCM batteries, as will Verkor from its gigafactory based in Dunkerque, France.
LGES will supply both NCM and LFP batteries from a plant in Poland.
The batteries are assembled at Ampere ElectriCity, in the Assembly Battery Shop of Douai Manufacture.

The deals will help avoid tariffs on imported battery cells and packs.
