Stellantis is to use solid state batteries from Factorial for the first time in a demonstration fleet of all-new Dodge Charger Daytona vehicles by 2026.
The Stellantis Dodge Charger Daytona is based on the STLA Large platform with a Factorial solid state battery pack with an energy density of 390Wh/kg. The same platform will be used for 2m vehicles under the Jeep, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands as well as Dodge.
Factorial will supply Stellantis with cells based on its proprietary FEST battery technology which is also lighter than lithium ion cells.
“This demonstration fleet is an important milestone in our partnership with Factorial,” said Ned Curic, Stellantis’ Chief Engineering and Technology Officer. “By integrating Factorial’s innovative battery solution into the STLA Large platform, we are validating its potential to enhance our electric vehicle lineup, ensuring customers benefit from improved performance, longer driving ranges and faster charging times in the coming years.”
The Stellantis partnership with Factorial started in 2021 with a $75m investment alongside Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai and Kia. As well as FEST, Factorial is developing a sulfur-based solid state battery platform called Solstice.
