TTTech Auto and BlackBerry are partnering to integrate BlackBerry’s QNX Neutrino real-time operating system and TTTech’s MotionWise automotive safe software platform for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and software-defined vehicles.
The goal of the collaboration is to control computational processes across the entire vehicle architecture, ensuring well-defined safety and performance characteristics of the overall system – not least supporting faster time-to-market for next-generation production vehicles.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving systems place very high demands on functional safety and real-time computing performance. To meet the latter, high-performance systems-on-a-chip (SoCs) are required, connected to a reliable high-speed communications backbone. Similarly, software functions within and across all interconnected SoCs must interoperate in a reliable and secure manner.
QNX provides a basic software component that runs on individual SoCs. TTTech Auto’s MotionWise vehicle software platform, on the other hand, with its high level of functional safety, seamlessly orchestrates software functions across multiple SoCs. The tight integration of these two technologies, already proven in millions of vehicles around the globe, ensures the orchestration of workloads across the entire vehicle level, delivering well-defined overall system safety and performance.

“BlackBerry QNX is firmly established in the automotive industry, and we continue to build on our strengths by partnering with innovative companies like TTTech Auto that complement our foundational software with solutions that deliver advanced capabilities while demonstrating shared values around balancing performance and safety,” said John Wall, SVP and co-head of BlackBerry Technology Solutions. “With QNX and TTTech Auto, automakers can benefit from our combined expertise to optimize the orchestration between disparate hardware and software components required to bring safe and reliable automated and autonomous driving systems to market more efficiently.”
“Together with BlackBerry QNX, TTTech Auto will help automakers bring advanced ADAS and automated driving capabilities for next-generation vehicles to market faster,” said Stefan Poledna, CTO of TTTech Auto. “Based on a very robust and powerful integration platform that supports advanced complex SoCs, safety and real-time requirements can be met. We combine our technology with the QNX operating system to achieve system-wide safety and performance characteristics for software-defined vehicles, addressing challenges such as limited communication latencies that can impact safety in today’s software-defined vehicle environments.”
