Two-channel 200 mA opamp for loads with high power requirements

The TSB582 can be operated with voltages from 4 V to 36 V. It contains two operational amplifiers (op-amps). It contains two operational amplifiers (OpAmps), which are suitable as source and sink for currents up to 200 mA. This allows direct connection of the respective load in bridge-tied configuration, so that one TSB582 can replace two single-channel operational amplifiers or high-current drivers made of discrete components. By integrating two operational amplifiers in one package, the TSB582 can save up to 50% PCB space and reduce material costs.

Offered in automotive and industrial versions, the TSB582 is designed for applications such as controlling robot movements and positions, conveyor belts and servo motors. In the automotive sector, the device’s applications include sensing motor position in steer-by-wire and traction motors, for example, as well as tracking wheel rotation in driver assistance systems and self-driving vehicles.

The TSB582 is equipped with built-in short-circuit and overtemperature protection, has rail-to-rail outputs and comes with a gain bandwidth product of up to 3.1 MHz. Both the automotive and industrial versions are specified for a temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C and are resistant to electrostatic discharges up to 4 kV according to the human body model (HBM).

Both package options offered are characterised by low thermal resistance. In addition to the SO8 version with exposed thermal pad, a 3 mm x 3 mm DFN8 enclosure with exposed pad and Wettable Flanks is available. The Wettable Flank design facilitates inspection after soldering to meet the quality assurance requirements of the automotive industry. The DFN8 package (3 mm x 3 mm) is now available in the industrial version. The automotive version and the two variants in the SO8 package will be introduced in the third quarter of 2022.

The TSB582 is part of ST’s ten-year longevity programme. Free samples are now available in ST’s eStore. The unit price is US$1.57 for the industrial versions and US$1.80 for the automotive-qualified versions (both in both package variants).
